Chapter Zero · Who We Are

We started a run club
because pizza tastes
better when you've
earned it.

Pizza Pacers began as a handful of NYC runners who were tired of run clubs that felt like tryouts. So we built the one we actually wanted to show up to.

The Short Version

Not a run club. A standing invitation.

It started with a group chat and a loose plan: meet at a pizzeria, order first, run a few easy miles together, then come back to the same table for a slice. No pace requirements, no team singlets, no PR pressure — just a reason to run that didn't feel like a chore.

The pizza part was never a gimmick bolted on afterward. It was the point. Running culture in this city can feel built for people who are already fast, already in a club, already fluent in the etiquette. We wanted the opposite: a run where finishing last gets you exactly the same slice as finishing first, and where "I've never run before" is a completely normal thing to say at the start line.

So that's Pizza Pacers. We pick the pizzeria first, then run a loop and come back to it, on purpose. Every pace is the right pace. And the whole thing works because nobody's trying to prove anything, except that pizza is a legitimate finish-line reward.

What We Believe

The rules, such as they are.

Every pace welcome.

Front of the pack or your first mile ever — there's no minimum speed and nobody gets dropped.

No ego, ever.

We don't do splits-shaming or gear-checking. Show up in whatever you've got.

You come back to the same pizzeria.

Not a snack, not a protein bar. A real, sit-down — or lean-against-the-counter — slice, at the same shop where you started.

Chapter Zero, New York City.

Every pace. Every route. Every table.

Come run with us.

Chapter Zero is just getting started — join the list and you'll be first to hear about routes, run dates, and new pizzerias joining the map.
